Tubbataha Revisited - Part 1 (May 2007)

Days 1 to 2: My non-diver friends always give me that same reaction everytime I tell them that I'm going to Tubbataha - "That place again? Weren't you there last year? Don't you get tired of it?". Of course, my answer is obvious. This was my third trip to this wonderful UNESCO Heritage Site and it just keeps getting better every year. It's a place we Filipinos should be really proud of.

Tubbataha Revisited - Part 2 (May 2007)

Days 3 to 4: We spent our last 2 days in Tubbataha cruising the southern atoll where everyone got their own share of jackpots. I will never forget the faces of those Portulano divers who saw two whale sharks in a row! Well, I guess that's how every Tubbataha story goes - some see great stuff, some don't... but in the end, being there and not on your work desk is that which really matters.

Palau, Micronesia (April 2007)

After 3 years of wanting and planning, I finally arrived in Palau, eager to experience all the dive stories that my buddies kept raving about. And oh yes, they were right. Palau is truly a pelagic haven - sharks, jacks, barrucada, mantas etc. Everyone was present, and every square inch of Blue Corner was packed with pelagic action! I will never stop dreaming about my dives here until I come back next year, budget permitting. Enjoy all the underwater action!

Bohol Revisited (October 2006)

Bohol never fails to amaze me. It is the only place I've been in the country where macro critters and pelagics are swarming in a single dive. After 3 months of no diving because of my day job, this trip was indeed a thrilling way to get back underwater! Enjoy the video.

The Colors of Beatrice (June 2006)

Beatrice Rock is a popular dive site in Anilao that is known for its colourful corals and thousands of Anthias fish covering the reef. As the current whips, divers get to experience a majestic symphony of moving colors as these Anthias play with the current and protect themselves from predators. This has definitely been one of my best and most colorful dive to date!

Subic Wrecks (May 2006)

Subic Bay is located southwest of Luzon Island in the Philippines. Previously a naval base for American troops, Subic is now converted into a hot spot for trade and eco-tourism. This footage was taken from the two wreck dives I made inside the USS New York and LCU Landing Vessel. Though visibility was not that great, the fish life was excellent. That, combined with the stunning views of the wrecks' interiors added to the drama of my first wreck diving experience!

Halea Island, Ticao (April 2006)

Halea Island, locally known as San Miguel, is located off the tip of Ticao Island near the province of Masbate. The coral gardens surrounding the island are very rich and pristine primarily due to the constant flow of nutrients being swept in by the strong currents of the Ticao pass. This was definitely my best coral dive ever! I have never seen so much soft corals in my life. For more information about Halea, visit: www.haleaisland.com

Dive and Trek Marine Sanctuary (December 2005)

The marine sanctuary at the Dive and Trek Resort in Batangas is bustling with marine life. The fish are friendly and so used to divers that they come up to you really close and personal. On top of that, the reef is filled with so much critters, which are a real treat for macro photographers. I took all this footage in just one dive.

Mainit Point and Twin Rocks (October 2005)

Mainit Point and Twin Rocks are two well-known dive sites in Anilao, Batangas. These sites just keep getting better and better everytime I dive them, especially Twin Rocks, which has been well taken care of by the people at Planet Dive. This video features the booming fish life in those sites that continues to amaze both novice and seasoned divers. The footage I got during the two dives is definitely a testament to the success of conservation in Anilao.

Portulano Crown of Thorns Collection (August 2005)

The Crown of Thorns Starfish infestation in Bauan has become a main concern for divers in the area. Cleanup efforts have been organized to save the reefs from further damage. Here is some footage from our collection dive at Portulano reef.

Tubbataha Reef (May 2005)

Our Tubbataha trip couldn't get any better than this. Mantas, whalesharks, sharks, schools of jacks and barracudas became a main stay in most of our dives! With calm seas, perfect visibility and a fun group, this trip was truly one for the books!

Apo Reef Night Dive (September 2004)

There's nothing better than experiencing your first night dive in Apo reef. Well, it wasn't really my first but it was definitely the best night dive I've had in months (the last one was in Tubbataha, 2003). Turtles were all over the place in this dive.
